Instead of wired bio-sensing equipment setup for interactive applications, “He+ARTs” simplifies setup of heart-rate-based interactive sonification/visualization/installation using mobile device camera for heart rate measurement and bonjour for zero-configuration network setup. It also allows for aggregating heart rate value from multiple users.

To test “He+Arts”, please download this to test “Connect” function on the device. You might need MAXMSP to run this patch, you can download MAXMSP runtime for free. (hint: “Command + Option + E” gives you presentation modein MAXMSP)

Instruction:
- iphone and laptop are needed for setup
- download maxmsp patch to laptop, install “He+ARTs” app on iphone
- on laptop, connect to network then go to maxmsp to configure bonjour as instructed in the patch
- on iphone, connect to the same network
- on iphone, cover the camera lens with your finger and click “measure”
- on iphone, click “connect” and you should be able to see heart rate value in maxmsp
